Natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing sculpted formations that can be applied over almost any retaining system and / or re-stabilization stacked block wall or crib wall system. We have applied our finishes to tiebacks, soil nail walls, soldier piles, sheet piles, grade means, gabions, cast in place, block, and various other walls. It is a custom-made finish which is not repetitive like other finishes.

There are several means of determining the geological finish. Our artisans can replicate specific regional stonefaces from photos. Or, Clients can specify formations from natural locations anywhere in the world. Boulderscape has received photos of geologies as far away as Africa.

After receiving images we often create storyboards, photo simulations and mock-ups for the customer to approve.

Often, Boulderscape artisans also inspect nearby geologies and re-create the patterns and colors of the existing region.

Finally, finishes may be requested from existing Boulderscape projects. No matter how the finish is determined, our talented sculptors transform ordinary retaining wall systems into one-of-a-kind works of art.

Maintenance is not required though a graffiti coat may be applied if graffiti vandalism is a continuing problem.

For commercial applications, Boulderscape finishes are more cost efficient and time-saving than most other finishes. A Boulderscape finish is actually ­­— on average — 30 to 40% less expensive than traditional cast-in-place and form liner finishes. Boulderscape finishes also eliminate the excess purchases and waste produced by form liner fittings for various retaining wall sizes.

As a custom residential application, Boulderscape may work with architects, developers, builders, construction firms and homeowners on large-scale residential projects. A Boulderscape finish can be applied — on average — 50% faster than cast-in-place and form liner finishes.

Since Boulderscape finishes are created with 4,000-5,000 PSI concrete they have the same life expectancy as a cast-in-place concrete wall.

Boulderscape finishes have been installed and maintained in cold weather states such as Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. In more extreme freeze / thaw climates, Boulderscape uses a specialized crystalline to seal the capillaries within the concrete.

Unlike paint (which is topical) Boulderscape’s coloration technique reacts with the concrete to alter the concrete integrally. Consequently, a Boulderscape finish never fades.

Boulderscape finishes have been applied to water features including: marine aquariums, swimming pools, waterfalls, and jacuzzis, as well as large-scale sea walls.

Since Boulderscape finishes are created with 4,000 to 5,000 PSI concrete they have a similar life expectancy to a cast-in-place concrete wall.

Boulderscape finishes can be applied from 1.5 inches to 24 inch thickness.

An average of .08 per inch of thickness.

Boulderscape’s maintenance crew can easily repair scrapes, scratches, and areas cracked by excavation equipment.

Boulderscape is a certified member of the LEED Green Builders Association. Our shotcrete mixes have been specially formulated with natural fly ash — a pre-consumer recycled aggregate and applied finishes are designed to promote natural plant and vegetation growth. Also, Boulderscape diesel-powered trucks and shotcrete pumps use B49 biodiesel fuels.
